Commercial Helicopter Pilot License CPL(H) Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification Passed Class 12th from a recognized with Physics and Mathematics
  • Medical Fitness Candidate must have a Class I medical fitness certificate issued by a DGCA approved doctor or medical
  • Age Limit Candidate applying for a CPL must be at least 17 years of age at the time of application

Private Helicopter Pilot License PPL(H) Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification Passed Class 10th from a recognized board
  • Medical Fitness Candidates must have obtained a Class II medical fitness certificate issued by a doctor or medical establishment approved by the DGCA
  • Age Limit Candidate must be a minumum of 16 years of age at the ume of applying for iPPL

Steps to Become a Helicopter Pilot

Helicopter Pilot is a very responsible, demanding, and multitasking job. To make the process simpler here are a few points:

  • 1.Choosing the Right Programme: Enrolling in a BTech or a BSc Programme in a recognized Aviation College is the first step. It is very essential for a candidate to choose the right program as the airport offers various jobs from technical to management. Considering that candidate may choose from BBA, BTech, and BSc programs.
  • 2.Choosing the Right College: Candidates must choose a suitable college according to their convenience as well as the curriculum. Candidates have to ensure their own aspiration to be an Airport Manager, Ground Staff, or an Air Traffic Controller, thus accordingly choosing their college which provides the maximum exposure to their students through internships, projects, and seminars.
  • 3.Entrance Exam Eligibility: The minimum eligibility for JEE is 60% in 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. JEE is valid for any engineering and similar Technical courses like Aeronautical Engineering or Avionics which makes them eligible to be a Helicopter Pilot.
  • 4.Registering as a Pilot: Registering as a Pilot and becoming a Commercial Pilot for the first few years to obtain experience. A professional helicopter pilot's license is required for those who plan to work commercially in the helicopter transportation industry. Candidates need to clear a written examination to obtain a CPL and a PPL.
  • 5.Resume and Application: Building a resume highlighting their experience in flying and operations and finding a job and getting hired. They may apply to reputed companies that provide helicopter services and get hired by them like Pawan Hans, RAF, IAF, Indian Airlines, etc.
